Frequently Asked Questions - Massachusetts Community Choice

The Massachusetts Community Choice Aggregation is a municipal aggregation, a form of group purchasing in which a city or Town arranges electricity supply on behalf of its citizens. Aggregation is allowed by Massachusetts law and is growing in popularity. The term aggregation is used because the electrical load of a Town is combined, or aggregated, and served by a single electricity supplier.

The Towns used a competitive bidding process to select NextEra Energy Services Massachusetts, LLC to serve their customers under the Massachusetts Community Choice Aggregation.

In November 2016, the Town of Natick entered into an agreement to begin with January 2017 meter reads, and in December 2016, the Town of Bellingham entered into an agreement to begin with March 2017 meter reads. For more information, you can:
