Our History
From humble beginnings in 1925 to a Fortune 200 company today, NextEra Energy (NYSE: NEE) has become an energy industry leader. Shortly after NextEra Energy entered the competitive retail energy market in 2005 with its acquisition of Gexa Energy (est. 2001) in Houston, Texas, it established NextEra Energy Services as its national retail energy brand. In 2026, NextEra Energy Services greatly expanded our geographic footprint and natural gas service offerings when we acquired Symmetry Energy Solutions, also based in Houston, Texas.
