The Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) is a non-profit energy aggregation representing about 825,000 residential and small business customers in 208 communities in 13 Northeast Ohio counties. NOPEC was founded in 2000. NOPEC uses bulk-buying techniques to get the least expensive power they can and then supply that power in the form of electricity and natural gas – at reduced rates – to NOPEC customers. Since it was founded, NOPEC customers in Northeast Ohio have saved over $260 million. NOPEC is also increasingly involved in encouraging and implementing energy conservation that saves our customers additional money.

In November 2013, NOPEC entered into an agreement to buy natural gas for NOPEC customers from NextEra Energy Services Ohio. That agreement will begin with March meter reads for Columbia Gas of Ohio (COH) customers and April meter reads for Dominion East Ohio Gas (DEO) customers.
