National energy provider will make its competitive electricity services available to 400 school districts in the state
HOUSTON, Texas (July 9, 2013) – The Illinois Energy Consortium (IEC) and NextEra Energy Services Illinois, LLC (NES) today announced a partnership to provide electricity to approximately 400 school districts beginning June 1, 2014.
“The IEC was created more than 12 years ago by the Illinois Association of School Boards, Illinois Association of School Administrators and Illinois Association of School Business Officials,” explained Gary Grizaffi, IEC president and assistant superintendent at Valley View CSD 365-U in Romeoville, Illinois. “The non-profit is charged with obtaining competitive electricity and natural gas suppliers for schools and public agencies in Illinois. We are very pleased that our partnership with NextEra Energy Services will accomplish this goal and bring more choices and highly competitive prices to Illinois schools and public agencies.”
NextEra Energy Services President Brian Landrum added, “The entire NES organization is excited to be working with the IEC to enhance the current program by providing its members with additional power supply options. As Program Administrator for the Illinois Energy Consortium, NextEra Energy Services will provide a diversified approach for supplying power with greater flexibility for IEC members at competitive market prices.”
