Renewable Energy

At NextEra Energy Services, we believe that affordable, renewable energy options should be available to all.  We are a part of NextEra Energy Resources, the largest and most diverse portfolio of power generation and infrastructure solutions

Benefits of Renewable Energy

Renewable energy resources, such as wind and solar energy, are constantly replenished and never run out. Key benefits of renewable energy are:

Energy For the Future

Renewable energy never runs out. Other sources of energy are finite and will someday be depleted.

Jobs and The Economy

Most renewable energy investments are spent on materials and workmanship to build and maintain the facilities, rather than on costly energy imports. Renewable energy investments are usually spent within the U.S. frequently in the same state, and often in the same county. This means your energy dollars stay home to create jobs and to fuel local economies, rather than going overseas. Meanwhile, renewable energy technologies developed and built in the U.S. are being sold overseas, improving the U.S. trade deficit.

Consumers

By selecting a renewable energy plan, you help to support a cleaner environment by contributing to the addition of renewable energy sources onto the electric grid. Renewable plans are supported through the acquisition of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs).  As renewable generators produce electricity, they create one REC for every 1000 kilowatt-hours (or 1 megawatt-hour) of electricity placed on the grid.   As demand for RECs increases, renewable generation also increases.

Our Heritage

Our parent company, NextEra Energy Resources, has a solid track record of leadership in renewable energy.

  • Began investment in renewable projects in 1989
  • Has since grown into a leading generator of renewable energy in the world and the largest in the United States
  • Capacity to produce more than 10,000 megawatts of electricity from renewable resources
  • Supports increasing use of emissions-free renewable energy
  • Announced a significant investment aimed at increasing U.S. solar energy output
  • Investing in new wind and solar energy facilities
